DIY St. Patrick's Day Door Decoration

I love making my own things to hang on the front door.  Any door decoration I see for sale in a craft store always seems so incredibly overpriced!  So for St. Patrick's Day, I made this:

Supplies needed for this project:

Cardboard

Pencil

Green yarn

Black Ribbon

Hot glue gun 

Sparkly gold pipe cleaner 

First: trace out the outline for a hat on the cardboard, and cut out.  You'll then need to trace out additional pieces for the "top" of the hat, and the "brim" of the hat.

Wrap the yarn horizontally around the main part of the hat.

Then wrap the "top" and "brim" pieces horizontally with the yarn.

Glue these pieces onto the main whole piece of the hat.  Wrap the black ribbon around the hat, and either tie or glue it in the back.  Then take the pipe cleaner and fold it into a square that resembles a buckle.  Glue the square onto the ribbon and yarn.  Use a command strip to attach to your door!
